Did you know that many detergent products can contain potentially harmful chemicals that may negatively affect your health and contribute to environmental pollution?
Whereas some people think these products – chockfull of harsh chemicals – clean better, I disagree.
I don’t believe laundry products need to contain harsh, potentially hazardous ingredients to get your clothes, sheets and towels clean, white and fresh smelling.
Nor do I believe you need to jeopardize your health and that of the environment with potentially dangerous dishwashing detergents.
After all, these harsh chemicals can threaten your health in multiple ways. You can inhale the ingredients into your lungs and absorb them through your skin.
This is exactly why I’ve developed my Greener Cleaner line of laundry and dishwashing products. No longer do you need to risk your health and well-being just to have sparkling clean dishes and fresh smelling laundry!
What's NOT in My Detergent Pouches: A ‘Laundry List’ of Potentially Dangerous Harsh Chemicals
Many of the products on store shelves include these potentially dangerous chemicals:
Phosphates: Often the main ingredient in many detergents, phosphates are linked to potential health issues and environmental hazards.
When cleaning with phosphate-filled detergents, residues on items may build up and cause skin irritations.
Phosphates are also difficult to remove from wastewater and often end up in rivers and lakes, where they act like a “fertilizer” in waterways, increasing algae growth and suffocating aquatic life. Even after wastewater treatment, phosphates remain active.
Fragrance: Used in many products, including detergents to create people-pleasing scents, the thousands of different chemicals making up each "fragrance" can be nearly impossible to decipher.
Artificial fragrances are also among the top five known allergens, potentially causing asthma and triggering asthma attacks.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES): SLS and SLES are surfactants and emulsifiers used in thousands of cleaners.
Research studies on SLS have shown links to irritation of the skin and eyes.
1,4 Dioxane: A by-product of SLS, this dangerous substance used in detergents can be absorbed by your skin.
NPE (Nonylphenol Ethoxylate): A nonionic surfactant frequently used in laundry detergents, NPE is also an endocrine disruptor and estrogen mimicker.
Formaldehyde: Used in detergents, this chemical may cause asthma and allergies, and is considered a known carcinogen.
Certainly you wouldn’t apply these chemicals directly to your skin, so why would you want to soak your clothes, sheets or towels in them?
Contrary to what you (and many others) might think, these toxic chemicals don’t all wash out in your rinse cycle. These potential carcinogens, chemicals, dyes and artificial fragrances can remain imbedded in the fibers of your clothes, towels and sheets.
So that means every time you wear or sleep on your freshly laundered clothes or sheets, you’re in very close contact with these artificial scents and potentially hazardous residues.
Instead of relying on potentially hazardous ingredients such as these, I wanted to find alternatives that would clean just as well but without challenging your health or the environment.
Crystal-Clean Dishes Without Resorting to Harsh Chemicals
My Greener Cleaner Dishwasher Pouches contain only non-petroleum-based premium plant and mineral ingredients. There are no dyes or masking agents, which can help eliminate the potential allergy issues sometimes found with chemical ingredients.
My dishwasher pouches are also extremely effective at removing grease and leaving you with sparkling clean dishes. The quality performance of my detergent comes from the superior ingredients and highly concentrated formula – no water added to dilute effectiveness.
With the convenient pouch delivery system, pouches are pre-measured, so all you have to do is pop one in the dishwasher and turn it on. This eliminates the need for self-measuring, saving time and money. Plus, no more messy, dripping caps!
Laundry Pouches That Effectively Clean Your Clothes Without Polluting Your Home or the Environment
Just like my dishwasher pouches, my Greener Cleaner Laundry Pouches contain only non-toxic plant and mineral based ingredients.
Unlike other commercial laundry detergents, these gentle yet strong-acting pouches won’t harm you or your child, even if digested (but please, keep them out of reach of tiny hands!).
While even chemical-laden laundry detergents sometimes don't work well, my highly concentrated detergent is guaranteed to clean and remove stains, and brighten clothing, towels and sheets – keeping your whites white and colors bright.
This special three-in-one effectiveness eliminates the need for additional stain removers and brighteners for most items. My laundry pouches often get the job done on their own!
As with the dishwasher pouches, the pre-measured pouches make it easy to add to loads. Simply drop one pouch in for small to medium loads, and two pouches for large to extra-large loads of laundry.
Detergent pouches work in both HE and regular washing machines.
Ditch the Chlorine Bleach… This Environmentally Friendly Alternative Brightens Whites and Removes Stains – and Is Even Safe for Use on Colors!
Is it really possible to get your clothes, towels and sheets bright and white – and stains out – without resorting to chlorine bleach or chemical stain removers?
Chlorine bleach is a known skin and nervous system irritant and can react with other chemicals to form potentially harmful substances. Not only can they be risky to you and your family, these substances can build up in the environment and seep into drinking water supplies and farming irrigation water.
Chemical stain removers are just as bad, if not worse.
They typically contain a long list of chemicals that can irritate your skin, eyes and respiratory system. One common stain remover ingredient, Quaternium-15, releases low levels of formaldehyde, a chemical linked to allergies and cancer.
The good news is there is a better, less hazardous way to remove stubborn stains from your laundry while helping your whites and colors look brighter.
Greener Cleaner Bleach Alternative Pouches brighten whites and colors without the use of harsh chemicals or bleach, dyes and fragrances. The color-safe, gentle-on-fabric formula made from naturally derived ingredients helps neutralize odors while it lifts stubborn stains.
Simply drop one or two pre-measured concentrated pouches into your washer, depending on load size, right after the detergent as a laundry booster.
Use as a Pre-Treatment – or Anywhere Around Your Home
For extra soiled laundry, use Greener Cleaner Bleach Alternative as a pre-treatment before adding detergent. It’s especially useful for freshening and removing stains and odors from workout clothes.
Greener Cleaner Bleach Alternative does more than just clean laundry. You can also use it for removing carpet and upholstery stains and odors from trash and storage bins. Anything bleach can do, Greener Cleaner can likely do better – but without the worry of bleach stains.
However you use it, there’s no messy measuring or wasted product due to spills. And because the ingredients are biodegradable, there are minimal environmental safety concerns and they are safe for most septic systems. Greener Cleaner Bleach Alternative Pouches are suitable for both standard and high efficiency (HE) washing machines.
Being Eco-Friendly and Responsible Often Means Taking an Extra Step…
It’s simple to go “green” and take control of your health at the same time. You don’t have to choose one or the other…
My laundry and dishwasher pouches effectively clean your clothes, towels and sheets – and dishes. And they don’t do it at the expense of the environment.
Since they don't contain phosphates or other harsh chemicals, they won't kill aquatic life and other animals, or pollute waterways like other dishwashing and laundry products.
In addition, the detergent pouches are cruelty-free, with no animal testing and no formaldehyde donors.
Doing the environment – and yourself – good often means taking an extra step… Manufacturers of laundry and cleaning products aren’t required by law to list what is in their product.
Instead, you need to look for what’s not there. Look for "phosphate-free," "no bleach," "SLE-free" and "NPE-free." Always choose "biodegradable" detergents since those often do not contain the harmful ingredients I talked about earlier.
And equally important, look for plant- and animal-based ingredients, instead of petroleum-based.
